Rush Hour 1998
Tucker and Chan’s chemistry is what makes this film work as well as it does - and it’s likely what got them two sequels. A lot of the dialogue and banter is so quick and so fun, I can see what makes this one of the more popular action comedies of the last few decades.
That said, I couldn’t shake the feeling that Chris Tucker took a lot from Eddie Murphy’s performances as Axel Foley for his role here, and that detracted from the viewing experience. In a bubble, though, this is fun and I’d see it again.
