not to get all soppy but I thought this was a really nice "slice of life" film, one which showed how important it is to keep being positive with those people in your life that are "hard work" sometimes
also a very good exploration a woman's experience of patriarchy in the household and how much strain it can put on you
absolutely incredible acting from Marianne Jean-Baptiste
Really enjoyed this film. The music was arguably a bit relentless, but luckily very much to my taste. This guy is such a contrarian sellout wanker it's unreal, despite how great his music is. Edward Norton as Pete Seeger completely stole the show btw; he captured the real guy's mannerisms to a scary extent.
a very good look at how the last generation to actually *know* Holocaust survivors deals with that (still unimaginable) period in history
good collection of characters who all felt real; particularly appreciated the well-meaning but flawed gentile Holocaust MA tour guide guy from the North of England (in an otherwise very American/Polish film)
Enjoyed the scheming, conniving, and nobbling. Fantastic costumes (excellent because they are literally just what real cardinals wear). The juxtaposition of Medieval and modern in the Catholic church has always fascinated me.
If I had one criticism, it would be that the narrative is unexpectedly a little melodramatic, but it was otherwise very good.
