Very creative practical effects and iconic imagery, there is dream inside dream inside dream, and Freddy Krueger, the classic fear of dying in a nightmmare but with the boogie man, who can manipulate nightmare reality and goof around with that power which was very well explored.
Sometimes you don't know at first when it's a dream and then you start to feel it, the stuff coming out to outside the dream gave a very uncanny feeling. Them doing "scientific" experiments…
