Wee Sing in Sillyville 1989
Utterly entrancing. I loved it as a child, and love it as an adult. The songs are fun, the sets are charming, and it’s all infused with an uncomfortably exaggerated whimsy. Wee Sing in Sillyville is a masterpiece of children’s surrealist psychedelic media.

I'm so torn about MaXXXine. I loved the visual aesthetic, the editing choices, and the sound design. The plot... not so much. There were some good ideas, but nothing felt fully fleshed out. I was confused by random subplots, and the climax felt like a horror film parody. I'm also a bit disappointed by the direction of Maxine's character - she lost a lot of agency here.
Overall, I'm just confused how they flopped so hard after X and Pearl.…
