    A four parter exploring a murder, it's motivation and aftermath on an ordinary family. Brilliant writing and one-take filming maintains the claustrophobic and dangerous atmosphere where anything can happen. Each episode is self contained with its own tensions and reveals. Perhaps the most scary is in the 4th where the paint shop guy comes out with conspiratorial proofs that Jamie is being framed.

    It's a demented version of Mrs Doubtfire The Musical, only set in a Mexican cartel rather than a New York apartment, and played straight.

    At times the musical numbers approach "Springtime for Hitler" levels of absurdity, and with style. Great choreography and cinematography, and nuanced performances by the 3 principal actors.

    It's darkness and brutality counterpoint some really quite sensitive moments.

    The Trans-politics? Don't even go there.

    I finally got around to this "marmite" movie that has so divided opinion. I loved it.

    The tale is more than a twisted hybrid of "Brideshead Revisited" and "The Talented Mr Ripley". It has its own seething hatred hidden in the social climbing, and not just by the main protagonist but also amongst the languid rich.

    Anyone who has brushed up against the truly posh at university recognises how well the script skewers their attitudes, arrogance and sense of entitlement. Great final scene too...
