what a beautiful movie. glorious. the conformist seamlessly intertwines sex, art, philosophy, and politics, evoking the presence of dead philosophers in a cinematic symposium; plato’s cave, nietzsche’s last man, foucault, sartre and freud haunt the narrative. it explores fascism’s operation within a liminal space where the distinction between illusion and reality is deliberately destabilized just as arendt has argued. it infiltrates cognition itself, eroding the very possibility of objective truth, feeding on the collapse of shared realities and fostering a psychological terrain where contradiction and misinformation coexist without resolution. ugh, stunning.
