  Greta Gerwig is my new fave existentialist. 

  I was shocked at how much I loved this and by the fact that it spoke to the little version of me who played with a small collection of barbies (never baby dolls) and was already concerned by the irrepressible thoughts of death. 

  And I love the fact that this is such a film film. The surreal dance sequence that’s like the multi-layered dream ballet in Singin’ in the Rain, the boxy late…

  Was very torn as to how many stars to give this but I feel like 3.5 (from me) is a solid film that works well in a lot of ways. Tbh the piano scene itself gets the extra half star, I’ve never seen a scene in a film move with that kinda energy before.   I Am Not a Witch 2017

  It took me way too long to finally watch this and I think that’s maybe because I underestimated the comedy in it. There are some very surprising turns that work amazingly well, the TV show scene being one of them. Also the ending is one of the best film endings I’ve seen, quiet and sad and fitting but maybe also hopeful? A very special film that I think probably deserves a re watch to be fully appreciated. I will get round to doing that.
