Lots of foreshadowing future events, and "oh that's why" moments. Otherwise meh.
Beautifully made, compelling story, and incredible acting. A bit lengthy for a rewatch at home, but worth watching in theaters.
Laszlo is not only a struggling artist and a war refugee, but he's an immigrant that is subtly bullied and exploited all throughout his "american dream". There's this constant push and pull from his employer, Harrison (Guy Pearce), who's really the ultimate villain. You can feel the contempt in everything Harrison does and says, and he shows his true colors…
This was absolutely crazy. It's incredibly discouraging how unregulated behavioral health is. These behavior modification programs are a total scam that don't benefit anybody and they should not exist. I hope this documentary raises awareness and makes people put a stop to this insanity.
Incredible storytelling, but I just couldn't engage with the movie this as much as it probably deserved. I'm not a fan of the first person angles. I have seen documentaries on the Dozier school for boys so I can definitely appreciate it for it what it's based on.
