Went in with no context. At first, wildly confusing. Halfway though I became obsessed.
Alt review: a story of being in the bathroom at the right and wrong times.

My Catholic upbringing…it beckons…
Ralph Fiennes is absolutely spectacular in this as per usual. The drama! The twists and turns! It had me on the edge of my seat. Gossip, secrecy, cardinals, it has it all.
I can definitely understand why this is up for so many awards. Despite being stressed out from watching the high anxiety scenes unfold (poor cardinal lawrence was handling a lot) I loved this.
EDIT: I’ve thought about this and just want to add that I wish the ending was expanded upon. Feels like that could have been interesting, although perhaps impossible to do.
On one hand, I can see why award show people would eat this up. On the other, it isn’t good.
