I Saw the TV Glow 2024
This one was hyped to me repeatedly so I came in with high expectations. Very good and lives up to it. That is all.

Like a really long episode of Law and Order SVU. A great amount of space in this film is spent trying to make you uncomfortable, and it just feels awkward. Our main character goes to bars and just stands there for so many scenes so they can show you a guy getting fisted, etc, etc, etc for so much of this movie.
I do feel like there is something here. The film also has a lot to say about masculinity and the police for example. But I feel like it trips itself up too much to recommend.

I dinged it because it feels like they made a list of "cool alien moments" and worked backwards to create a movie. Situations consistently are set up, paid off, and then mean nothing more to the movie as a whole. They find an x-ray wand, later they use the x-ray wand in a scary scene, and then it's gone. They establish that the critters see by temp and sound, they use that to have a scary scene, and then it doesn't matter.
Other than that, the set-pieces are actually pretty cool. And the effects are solid as well.
3 stars, would recommend but not watch again
