  Seemed a bit like a slower version of "A Clockwork Orange"...that being said, I though it was a great movie nonetheless. I liked the flashbacks of Freddie's version of the war, as it expressed that he had been battling himself for a long time. His connection to women was perhaps the most noticeable piece of character development, with booze a close second.

  Loved the commentary on sense of insignificance and need for distractions within reality. Parallels between dreams and what is happening in real life helped to keep both versions of Gyllenhaal's character indistinguishable when needed. The commentary on masculinity and the distraction of sex and women in masculine meaning is a compelling and driving theme for the film that came together brilliantly in the end.   The film was clever at times and I definitely had my share of laughs, but this type of comedy should, in my opinion, be shown in short clips (YouTube, of course) rather than as a feature length film
