Strange and unpleasant! It’s not nearly as repulsive or as incompetently made as Foodfight, but it has a similar energy. There’s something off about the faces; they’re deeper in the uncanny valley than you might think. People joke—not unjustifiably, mind you—that looking at a weird fish would make H.P. Lovecraft have a mental breakdown, but I think this movie would actually do the trick. I don’t know what his “in the moment” reaction would be but I feel strongly that after watching Shark Tale, he would die in his sleep.

YES! YES!! I love a goddamn *CARTOON*!!! I feel like I just shotgunned a giant pixie stick, you know the ones, the really big ones. It feels trite to call any movie “laugh out loud funny” but that’s exactly what this is.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS STARRO GO OFF YOU WILD BITCH!!!!! God, I love when Starro is a world-destroying Lovecraftian nightmare that still elicits pathos. I think the second edible hit right this moment. This was sooooooo much better than I expected. It perfectly nailed the exact vibe of the DC comics I love the most. Like, they have to be at least a little obnoxious to be really good. James Gunn can, should, must, and will direct an adaptation of Arkham Asylum: Living Hell.
