  Venom: The Last Dance 2024

  Boooo. A stupid film for stupid people. I disagree with almost every opinion it has about what's compelling or touching or funny. A lot of the dialogue was downright humiliating to listen to. The first two were good silly fun, and I don't remember the CGI symbiote effects looking so cartoony and weightless and unreal. I am disappoint.

  Close to being really nice and sweet and intellectually engaging, but ruined by men and comphet and some clunkily functional writing and some slightly dodgy maths.

  Did pretty much what I expected but better than I expected. The fight choreography is impressively intense, the leads work well together, the down-to-earth goofiness and the heightened violence of the hitman world are weaved together without feeling tonally jarring. Great work all round.

  There were some genuinely inventive ideas here, and I appreciated the stripped down execution and the way it played with the consequences of the premise, but I ended up admiring its ambition and promise more than enjoying how it turned out. Made me think of Primer at times, but not quite pulled off with the same level of skilful intricacy.
