This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
making the all powerful space overlords needy and overbearing is the most fresh, most absolutely hilarious direction they could have taken with the diamonds. we also get our first look at a steven who is burnt out on empathy and doesn't have the capacity for every broken stranger he meets.
the way he manipulates spinel into turning off the injector is a page taken from his mother at her worst--very harrowing and cool to see.then he unloads the heartbroken court jester on his giant needy lesbian aunts so they'll both leave him alone. this movie is amazing.
