    There’s so bad that it’s good… because it’s funny.
and then there’s so messy it’s charming… and from that arises something really special to me.

The later is something I’d like to see more of. I don’t mean “made more of”. It can’t be intentional. Just send me your shitty student films and goofy home vids. I will love you more for it.

    Clockwatchers

A sweet comedy with some incredible performances. Really artistic cinematography and editing for something that is usually played a bit more loose and silly.

The vibe is at many times Tati-Esque, which I think is the best way to make light and fun out of deadend jobs and boring people; all while maintaining a lot of love and empathy.

Surprised this movie is talked about or referenced more.

Never had I been handed binaural headphones as I walked into the theater before. Strong start.

It’s hard to describe the effect of this film without portraying it as something more pretentious than it is. It’s self aware and playful and goes some pretty awesome places that we often don’t care to. Never does it overreach.

Even as a camera person, I feel that sound is a criminally underappreciated aspect of our media. All the humans featured are beautiful and fascinating and I want to be friends with everyone who had a hand in this project. Maybe I’ll switch departments.

I liked it so much that it got me back on Letterboxd after almost a year off!

Just a solid ass monster flick with some of the best cinematography of the year, mf’n gorgeous practical sfx and H. R. Giger love everywhere!

    FINALLY! SPACE DONE RIGHT!
Screenwriters need to stop writing-out physics, because the real physics of space are the truly horrific and an interesting challenge.

Not a fan of resurrecting dead actors; at least it was on a robot which made it almost work in a cool way.
