  Apocalypse Now 1979

  Shallow story that just so happens to showcase a brilliant depiction of the Vietnam War

  At this point, we’re just so far removed from the Vietnam War that the conclusion that “war is hell” is ultimately kinda superficial. The story feels shallow, we spend the majority of the film being spoon fed monotonous monologue after monotonous monologue, after we’re shown an incredibly breathtaking visual sequence that perfectly encapsulates all of the information that we were just spoon fed. Personally, I’d rather take the visual storytelling over Martin Sheen’s vocal fry.

  The Batman 2022

  It’s hard to put into words why this movie is good. It just is. Matt Reeves understands Batman. The slow burn, detective Neo-noir aesthetic works so wonderfully and I’m really happy we finally have a Batman that really feels like the world’s greatest detective. Everything here works. I feel very safe saying that this is probably the best iteration of Batman in film.
