The borderline exploitative elements of this movie dance effectively with the downtrodden musical score, punctuating a movie that seems to exist to highlight psychotic masculinity as the catalyst for both good and evil in the world-sphere that is New York. Christopher Walken really is the perfect person to lead such a movie, his characteristic seductiveness on full display.
Laurence Fishburne and David Caruso playing the same position on opposing sides framed the central character beautifully.
You know, this movie could be viewed as Heat's artistic embryo.

A grotesque feminist crescendo into vulgar, gory chaos. The visual design of the movie is impeccable, and that sound design is over-the-top, but fitting.
This is the most memorable, effective, entertaining, and well-crafted movie of the year. The performances are perfect, including a barbaric Dennis Quaid, who literally turns in the best performance of his entire fucking career. Demi and Margaret are both deserving of Oscars—Demi especially. She doesn't hide from the character, hitting every mark in what I can imagine is a most demanding role.
This is the best movie of the year. It's unrestrained and bold, crafted with heart and bravery.

Earnest, ultimately heartbreaking. There's true intention here, and it's personal. But Daniel Craig doesn't surrender; not all the way, at least. It's a great performance, but there was too much awareness.
Queer has something very simple and universal to say, yet it gets distracted. That's okay, generally: and maybe it's okay here, as well. Maybe.

You can't look at me and tell me there's something wrong with this movie. It accomplishes exactly what it means to.

Perfect, crisply written movie. With a performance by Jim Carrey that gives so much humanity to a fantastical concept.

Depicting a man's spiral into madness is Marty's specialty.
He really should direct another original story.
