The Electric State 2025
electric state? pfft. more like the epic fail!
fell asleep halfway through which was probably because of the edible i took but i also wasn’t enjoying myself. finished it the next day, and i regretted that decision. 108 minutes of white noise that leaves your brain as soon as it enters it. everything about this movie is just okay. not laughably bad, just totally anodyne and sanitized like a Marvel movie.

theres a scene where einstein walks up to oppenheimer in sweats to offer sage wisdom to our hero… or villain?!
nolan has always loved asking questions more than answering them but having that style used in a historical film is a lot more interesting; the last half of the movie felt heavily inspired by JFK (1991).
im gassed as all hell (went to an evening screening) but im glad nolan put some titty in the picture too. reminds you that its a movie for adults. may update with more thoughts

fun songs and a nice send-up of golden age Hollywood musicals but it would have been a lot better if the jazz musician had more than 1 black “friend” and maybe if the songwriters were a little fruitier
