  Interesting story but the action segments feel oddly forced and out of place with the general tone of the film. 
  Nice performances all round but as a whole the film doesn’t quite gel for me.

  A real showcase for the acting of Tennant and Tate.
  Creepy and unnerving but with some lovely emotional touches. 
  Reminded me of Midnight and Listen in tone. 
  The opening with Newton added nothing though. How did it make the cut?

  Doctor Who: The Star Beast 2023

  Great first story for Tennant’s brief return. 
  Fast paced, fun and dramatic. And it definitely looked expensive - that new Tardis interior clearly cost a few pennies. 

  The only weak link was the resolution of the metacrisis issue. The use of binary / non-binary was clever and made sense. However the idea that the metacrisis could then just be “let go” because they were female was poorly thought out and clumsy. It felt like the series was straying a bit too close to magical thinking for my liking.  

  Overall though I really enjoyed it.
