« I always thought I was different…Turns out lonely people are all the same »
Masterpiece.
"Happy Together" walked so "In the Mood for Love" could run. It’s Wong Kar-wai and Christopher Doyle at their finest. The cinematography is brilliant and the story is heartbreaking. There are so many layers to this movie: the queer relationship, nationality on the brink of Hong Kong handover, travelling, dancing, opposites attract, starting over.
It is definitely a precursor of queer and love cinema and is a timeless story that you want to watch again instantly. As Ho Po-wing said: "Let’s start over".
