  David Lynch is my favorite director. For awhile I thought it was because of his surrealism, but I now realize it’s because of his heart and humanity. This humanity is seen in all of his films. Eraserhead with Henry’s anxiety towards his child, Blue Velvet with Dorothy’s trauma, and FWWM with Laura Paulmer’s abuse. But no film showcases it as much as the straight story does.
