Big fan of the Disney Star Wars and my favorite Jedi thus far.
Pro tip: don’t listen to the Twitter bandwagon and their excess of groupthink hate for certain films (like it has for this one). Honestly was enveloped by the story and cinematography from start to end, though I did not expect to experience such a daylight horror vibe for the first 50%. In the end, I think it accomplished what it set out to do: trip everyone out and let people stare at Harry Styles & Florence Pugh for 2+ hours.
2012, is that you?
I’ve never seen a movie that follows its novel counterpart so closely as this one. It’s as if I was watching the violent, unreliably narrated book that I read come to life page by page. That said, things had to be a little rushed because of that faithfulness. Snow was played perfectly self-centered and Lucy Gray was just eccentric enough to root for. Though not as rewatchable as the O.G. Hunger Games, this was colored with all the distinctive disturbing themes and nostalgia that a Hunger Games prequel should be.
