transported right from 2008 and also has werewolves, amazing creature designs, wild digital sets, and snake guns. right on

directness is an admirable quality here. just right to it, done engagingly, no grand sweeping statements about faith or institutions, just honesty about fallibility, jealousy, and public image. we are all modern people and tradition is a costume, you can't capture the past as an eternal state of present. i think that's an important thing to understand to engage with faith honestly, and i appreciate movies that have the imagination to explore that.

INCREDIBLE. relentlessy goofy and cartoonish in the best way possible, plays out cronenberg/raimi core gags with its own flavor, i love the in your face visual storytelling that does NOT care about being subtle whatsoever. i don't know if this will make sense but there are a lot of moments that are structured really similarly to like newgrounds era gross out animated shorts: the constant ass shots joke is an example, or the grotesque dennis quaid shrimp scene. great movie.

a good time! everyone pointing out the set design as a highlight is right. hits some real good freaky weird notes (birth scene is amazing), and rain and andy are great characters.

really did not need the actor resurrection at all. im going to be so livid if this actually becomes more of a trend. apart from being morally reprehensible and looking really bad, it's just unnecessary, could've been a different android. bad choice.

everything else about this works for…
