What a marvel it is to contemplate the strength, surrender, and faith of these men.

The Tourist is definitely a hidden gem of a series. It has a great cast and host of performances, interesting themes, and reflection on the past’s indelible mark on us, and also argues for genuine self-examination at all points in life. It’s quirky, funny, serious, and ultimately moving.

Twin Peaks: The Return is epic! Here’s a new review I wrote for the third season sparked by seeing a post on the quote:

Twenty Six Days in the Life of Dostoevsky

    ★★★★½

For context, I’ve read Crime and Punishment, The Brothers Karamazov, Notes from Underground, Demons, and The Idiot, so it’s fair to say I’m a Dostoevsky fan. I think this film would’ve been even better if I had actually read The Gambler. Shoutout to Mosfilm for making it available with subtitles on YouTube. I am a big fan of Anatoly Solonitsyn, and I thought his portrayal of Dostoevsky was inspired. The period setting is done well. The pathos in this movie felt genuine.
