Seven Psychopaths 2012
I really like Martin McDonoughs movies. But this one felt more like his attempt at a wild, Guy Ritchie movie. It kept losing me and winning me back, but eventually left me not really loving it. It’s a fun watch, but not very memorable.

Cabaret 1972
I guess I just always assumed this was just a ‘moulin rouge’ type movie. It is definitely not. Set in Berlin in the 30s, it’s more of a drug trip, social commentary story of free spirit young people both rich and poor, gay and straight, and their all trying to figure out who to sleep with and who hates or is a part of the rise of the nazi party. I enjoyed the ‘black lodge’ style fever dream interludes at the cabaret. Used cleverly as story commentary and tone settings within the story.
