As an avid fan of Eggers work, you cannot present me with a film of his that I will not appreciate — even just visually. Love this movie, hate this movie, will-never-be-able-to-unsee this movie— it honestly doesn’t matter.
But I know for a fact that there is NO WAY any of us walked out of the theater without being, on some gloriously unhinged level, absolutely fucking floored by Barry Keoghan and his performance.
Utterly fucking smashed it.
Definitely one of my top favorite films of 2023. What can I say, I’m a fool for symbolic imagery, strategic song choice, and homoeroticism. And sometimes, just some wildly fucked up nonsense 🤷♀️
