I feel like this movie had good intentions, it’s just that the tone doesn’t quite make sense. Watching the trailer, I thought it was some dramatic magical realism shit, turns out it’s a comedy-drama with bits of the whimsical. It’s trying to be Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life when it feels more like if Gaslight were directed by Frank Capra.

My first Hudson-Day picture did not disappoint! This is one of those movies that you’d say “they just don’t make films like this anymore.” Vibrantly filmed in Cinemascope and Eastmancolor and blessed with one of the catchiest opening title songs ever. The story is sexy without being bawdy, naughty without being vulgar, and romantic without being too mushy. Bring back the sex comedies without the sex!
