I feel like the intent was to make this an instant classic, and if that’s so, it fell short. It is worth watching though.
A little longer than necessary, but very sweet and funny. It was nice to revisit a character who has aged along side of me.
Love the music and the snow and the boy with scissors for hands. Dianne Wiest yet again plays the role of guardian to an otherworldly creature (see Lost Boys and Practical Magic) with so much authenticity and heart. I will never forgive the wig for Winona. Lastly, Jim and Joyce are both villains, and I wish we could have seen Joyce face consequences for her actions.
I would give this film 4 stars, but I didn’t care for the music, with the big exception of loving the use of the Cranberries to set the stage. The final scene is not what it should be because of the weird song choice. But all in all this film is a real charmer.
