    Meshes of the Afternoon

Dreams are universally relatable to us all. They offer a window into our subconscious mind, shaping abstract narratives from our emotions and experiences. But why are dreams so weird? Why do our brains distort reality so drastically, warping it into something so fragmented and nonsensical? And how does it create such vivid, symbolic imagery that only feels logical while we're alseep?

Meshes of the Afternoon explores this absurdity and irrationality of dreams, masterfully capturing their essence. As a surrealist film,…

"Can you be one and another person at the same time? I mean, was I two people...?"

Ingmar Bergman's Persona is a film filled with symbolism and metaphors. It's a staggering exploration of the battle for the authentic self presented by the duality of Alma and Elisabet—who I interpretated to be two sides of the same person. Alma being the outward facing persona, molded by societal and personal expectations, and Elisabet being the raw, uncompromised and silenced self. Their ongoing…

Chef is a mostly fine feel-good film. The beginning is the highlight, but after that, I started to lose interest. Also, is this supposed to be a comedy, because I didn't find anything remotely funny.

Fantastic miniseries from beginning to end. Every episode is equally as engaging, hard-hitting and well made. The continuous takes are incredibly impressive, immersing us into the story unlike any other film or TV Show. The performances throughout are great, but in particular Steven Graham and Owen Cooper, who were phenomenal.

People were so lucky in 1968 with the release of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Planet of the Apes, two of the most iconic science-fiction films. While Planet of the Apes may not match Kubrick's technical perfection, I can't help but love every minute of it. The ape makeup and special effects, although groundbreaking for the time, may seem dated, but to me they just add to the charm.

The concept of man and apes swapping roles creates an intriguing…

    Dazed and Confused

    ★★★★½

Dazed and Confused is all about atmosphere, effortlessly capturing the 70s with such style that it makes me feel nostalgic for a time I've never even experienced. I was always going to love the soundtrack, and it didn't disappoint. Another great thing is how the film is constantly moving, there’s always something happening—yet the plot remains beautifully aimless, just as it should be. It immerses you with the characters and allows you to simply experience the night unfold. As my first Linklater, I'm happy to say I'm excited to watch more of his films, this was brilliant.
