Kind of shocked to see so many reviews think this film takes such a firm stance when I think it truly shines in its ambiguity. Stigmata 1999
The second half is truly a snooze fest because it completely abandons the movie’s most interesting aspect which is “what if random art girly from Pittsburg experienced Stigmata?” Instead it chooses to attempt and make some commentary on Catholicism and leans more heavily into church politics. That’s not necessarily uninteresting, but it isn’t executed well and the end credit text actually made me laugh out loud…like this movie is NOT that serious!
Would be down for a reboot that fully commits and follows some she/they from Bushwick in a polycule. Now THAT sounds like a movie!
