Watched with the commentary. Not as much on the filmmaking as I’d like, especially in the first half of the movie. There, Kassovitz mostly focuses on introducing French social housing / projects to an American audience. Still worth a listen if you loved the movie.

Taxi Driver 1976
w/ Laserdisc commentary. Would be the greatest movie ever made but thankfully the story is not relatable to enough people (I’d rather the GOAT be something more humanist like a Renoir, a Ford etc.) so instead I’ll say it’s the greatest Western of all time.

I adored this as little kid, which was was well before the Avengers had invented "theme park cinema", so imagine my shock when the himbo lead and ditzy scholar (read: hot chick with glasses) spent most of the runtime making eyes at each other in progressively more Looney Tunes-esque situations. Complete with a cast of walking clichés and the requisite subpar action set-pieces, it made me admit that what's "wrong" with the MCU isn't the theme-parkness, it's that the rides…
