Movie Night #4
Really enjoyable movie! Such a fun exploration of finding yourself. Really great cinematography and goddamn damn Iceland and Greenland are beautiful. Although that final scene with Walter and Adam Scott was just a little too corny for my taste, it was a nice feel good movie.
"Beautiful things don't ask for attention" will stick with me for a while. That whole scene was so subtly beautiful. And it didn't ask for it.
Movie Night #3
I used to love the Lonely Island as a kid. YouTube humor really does not translate well to movies. While there are some really good jokes in this (Chris Parnell's brief appearance and Danny McBride carrying a majority of the movie when the "gang" is together), a lot of it feels like hastily stitched together YouTube skits that drag on way too long to fill the run time. Hugh Grant is electric. Sophie Thatcher is enthralling. And Chloe East's 180? Captivating. What a rich, dialogue heavy movie that had me glued the whole time. Lot of subtext here I'm sure I wouldn't have missed if I had grown up religious. Love the mind games with each other. The "magic" moment was so good and caught me completely off guard. And the "challenging" was really refreshing to see. Stellar movie, loved every bit
Movie Night #2
What a ride. Not a part of this community, but man just the absolute sense of dread throughout the movie. What a well constructed allegory. Though sometimes the dialogue can come off as cheesy, a part of me wants to argue that was intentional for that nostalgia lens.
