Horrifying. This has got to be De Niro’s best performance. Adore the shot of Jerry looking at the TV display at the end. Need to read Rupert’s book.

Hangover Square 1945
Haunting noir. The ending is one of the most thrilling musical sequences I've ever seen. Herrmann's score is brilliant and it is not hard to hear its influence on Sweeney Todd. A shame Laird Cregar's life was cut so short he was a talent, lending his character great sensitivity. Linda Darnell shines in the femme fatale role.
