So beautiful, masterful lighting. There was one shot with Nicholas Hoult in the center and Dafoe and Ineson on either side with fire torches. The dual lighting and the warm glow on Hoult’s face was STUNNING.

I understand and appreciate Eggers’ casting choices now - his characters have wonderfully interesting shapes, angles and textures on their faces that really show off the care into his painting with light and shadow.

I couldn’t sing along because I was too busy crying. During Defying Gravity, I was seriously considering quitting my job (still am).

I forgot how the munchkins were such assholes. They’re too fugly to talk about elphaba like that, pick a struggle you can’t have split ends and also be so fucking rude.
Loved that Ariana and Cynthia were the same size, they were precisely foils of each other. Kristin Chenoweth being smaller than Idina fed more into Elphaba being…

This one hurts, I’m so afraid I’d end up like Theo, that we will end up like Theo. The idea of being with someone is not that you should belong and be beholden to each other. Theo’s fatal flaw is that he’s the protagonist and only sees himself as such, and all the Hers are just supporting characters to his story. He doesn’t do it intentionally or even overtly, so I guess this is the fatal flaw we all have, that we’re kind of selfish. And to love means you have to be selfless.

One of those films where it ends and you ask, “what’s the point?” and why it’s short of five stars for me. But it was so entertaining and captivating.

Emerald Fennell is punchy. She delivers gags and irony through song and sounds. And just like Promising Young Woman, her sophomore effort paints with colour and light with such proficiency. This movie was gorgeous!! Felt like a sweltering and stuffy summer even as it was cold and windy outside.

Barry Keoghan is outstanding. You can’t look away from him as he too can’t peel his eyes away from Jacob Elordi.
