Sean Baker, take a bow.
The visuals are breathtaking, the colour grading is just otherworldly. After watching Anora yesterday, and this masterpiece tonight, I am all in on any Sean Baker projects going forward. This movie felt so real, raw and human. It completely broke me by the end.
Also, what does it say about Willem Dafoe to take this role with a bunch of new actors? This man has no ego, and it’s so nice to see him play…
Some decent jokes, but Dave’s obsession with trans people is getting super weird. That’s what, 4 specials in a row now? Need some new material, definitely sounds personal for him. It was funny the first time, maybe even the second time, now it just seems like a weird hatred.
