phenomenal. as an eldest daughter his older brother’s speech ripped right through me (was not even remotely prepared for that). what a beautiful coming of age story that doesn't neglect how sincerely awful the world can look and how art can be such a shining light in it all. i would love to bottle the feeling I have watching this and carry it with me always. brilliant.
also it reminds me of when this hot guy i had a crush on ever since highschool asked me to be in ‘a scene for class’ that he was ‘directing’.
he’s my boyfriend now (score)
i’ve purposely avoided watching this film for years because i had a feeling it would absolutely crush me. and damn…did it. i was prepared for heartache or death or whatever the worst case possible would be, but quite honestly what moved me the most was the pure love that exudes from this film. it was crafted with such a lovely hand to detail and devotion, jim and kate’s performance echoes mastery and the dynamic of dysfunction but true, unbridled love…
as someone whose had addition prevalent their entire life, both first-hand and from loved ones, this film emotionally encapsulates so much of the uncertainty and turmoil that addiction brings. the film is entirely a testimony to steve and timothy’s incredible performances and at times i felt back in situations that have long passed. the film reaches a point of raw humanity where the viewer has to also question their own limits, if that were your son what would you do?…
