Three years since my last watch of 8½ and it still manages overwhelm me and take my breathe away (I use this phrase because it's accurate in a sort of literal sense) — narrative, philosophy, composition and all! What equally amuses me is that practically nothing gets resolved throughout the whole movie (I believe that even ending the in-movie movie left matters a bit ambiguous as they are metaphorical), and yet celebration is the narrative's endgame.
