The animated opening is the best part of the movie. The rest is pretty much what you've seen before—minus actual sex, and plus some snippets that make the whole thing more comprehensible.

Can't say I enjoyed it as such. On the other hand, I appreciate a horror flick that isn't either po-faced, up-its-own-ass ironic, or trying-to-be-sleazy-but-can't-quite-manage. This is more like if Adam McKay directed Final Destination.

Megalopolis 2024
Absolute insanity, very enjoyable to watch and not even in an ironic way. People will mock its pomposity, which is just a way of hiding disdain for (fear of) sincerity. Imagine Ken Russell directing a remake of Metropolis, with interpolations from Alphaville. Which is to say: discard your expectations of what a film should be, because they're wrong.

Nasty is the word I would use. Exploitative another. Haven't had as intensely negative a reaction to a film since Hereditary, with which this film certainly has some aspects in common. But it's more like Emerald Fennell's Hereditary, which is even worse: as it tries to shock you, it does so by constantly reminding you of better movies you could be watching.
