Prior to seeing this film in theaters, I watched the original 1922 version directed by F.S. Murnau to have a clear understanding of the source material for Egger's latest film and conduct a compare and contrast analysis of sorts.

In the original Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, the Germain Expressionism camerawork and angles are undoubtedly a technical feat. You can see the influence that this film had on the future of horror movies with some simply beautiful cinematography and excellent…

After the 3+ hours flew by in my local theater, I think I can confidently say I have a new favorite 2022 release. This film oozes with style, pace, and a constant mix of emotions within this wild script.

The elaborate set designs and choreography were stunning, particularly in the party scenes. Chazelle’s camerawork (some tracking shots stick out in my mind) was so well done and made each scene feel original and fresh. Add-in top notch performances and complex…

Was excited for this one going into it, and it ended up being a funny story with some really intriguing characters. Pattinson’s dual performance was impressive, and the rest of the cast added their own unique aspects to this wacky plot.

Bong Joon Ho’s direction was crisp, and the cinematography well done. It’s such an original premise for a film, and he ended up executing the concept at a very high level. Touching on some deeper societal themes with engaging pacing throughout, this movie was a lot of fun.

An unthinkably amazing true story based on one of the most dangerous jobs on earth. Last Breath doesn’t do anything groundbreaking, but it shows a very crisp and harrowing portrayal of Chris Lemons and his crew’s utter dedication to saving his life.

The tension built through the various types of cameras used and lighting choices were very well done, and the acting performances from everyone involved were quite impressive too. Overall, this was an inspiring and reflective story that deserved to be told on the big screen.

This was one of the best moviegoing experiences I have had thus far. In a sold out theater on opening weekend with the 70mm projector clicking behind me, the energy and film itself were both great. While not my favorite of Nolan’s films, it was still a great ride from start to finish.

The whole cast had strong performances, and Murphy definitely stole the spotlight. It was refreshing to see Nolan take a step back from the action-packed style/pace of…

I was glad that I got to catch the encore reissue of this arthouse flick in theaters. This is a film that is painfully reliant on the ambiance and atmosphere that is created through the distorted view and unsettling sound design. The experimental framing took a bit for me to ease into but ultimately created something completely original and scary that tapped into raw childhood fears.

On the other hand, I didn’t exactly enjoy watching this plotless, largely ambiguous movie.…
