as a diehard fan of the phantom menace, i cannot reliably hate on megalopolis. in fact i kinda…. liked it? it was campy as hell, had hilarious dialogue, and some of it was actually meaningful. my favorite aspect of the movie was its use of roman folklore, symbology and storytelling. i can totally see why people hated this but hey. the girls who get it get it.

successfully held myself back from hooting and hollering every time cheryl entered with a new cunty outfit. the bowling shirt + cutoffs combo and the gingham dress were my tops.
i love this movie so much. i love cheryl’s storytelling, the amateur camera shots and choppy, short scenes. cheryl effortlessly entwines her own story with fae’s history, all while capturing queer culture of the 90’s and offering a glimpse of the queer scene of the 20’s and 30’s. i take so much away from this movie each time i see it; it’s so full of life, love, and lessons.
