If you asked a computer algorithm to make a WWI movie you’d get this, except the computer would probably cast it better. Boring dialogue delivered poorly by characters I didn’t care about; pointless scenes to generate some semblance of connection with the leads (see the baby and French woman scene). The score was good, the shots wowed me in the first hour and then it went down hill from there. Sam Mendes shows us his dick size through two hours of long shots and CGI just for the sake of them. Beautiful but kind of pointless, like a chopped down cherry blossom.
