obvious comparisons can be made to raising arizona, but this is a subtler movie by the coens, taking itself less seriously yet maybe saying more about the world around the story. i was originally not sure about bridges’ slacker persona, but the longer after you watch the more it grows on you.

i think that jeff bridges embodied the character of the dude perfectly. all the other actors however, it felt like something was missing. the coens didn’t really seem that into it as well. fun watch, but afterwards it kind of feels hollow.

sometimes i worried the film was too relaxed, but in the end i thought that the pace of the movie reflected the dude’s character, which is always a nice touch. a very easy film to watch, sometimes even fun, but for a west coast coen comedy, i’ll stick to raising arizona.
