a film that clearly needs to be viewed multiple times for everything to come together. the problem? unlike other nolan films, i don't think i want to watch this again. it's fun, and nowhere near as convoluted as some make it out to be, but it's missing something. i didn't feel connected to these characters, though i liked them, and despite the end of the world at stake, it all just felt inconsequential in the end. i think back to inception where I cared about cobb and where the stakes were palpable. sadly, that's missing here.

Pink Floyd: The Wall 1982
"the wall" is far from my favorite floyd album, but this is a terrific adaptation. probably the gold standard, and it makes me wish more albums were adaptated to film.
it's a difficult task, however, and what makes this stand out is its commitment to the visuals. it truly uses film as a medium to its fullest potential in terms of images telling the story. excellent all around.

Friday the 13th: A New Beginning 1985
Probably has the hottest girls in the series. Sadly, they all go to waste.
