Kotoko 2011
One of the most unnerving watches I’ve had in a while. Kotoko’s psychosis, double vision and anxiety is brought to the audience with shaky camera work and an uncomfortably close presence of self. Tsukamoto still had time to insert some humor into the timeline before absolutely obliterating any hope that I’d watch this film again any time soon. Not really for a casual audience, Kotoko is a confronting and steep descent into madness. This being Cocco’s acting debut as well…

The Wild Goose Lake 2019
Having all the light and shade I expect from a well paced crime noir. Neon soaked hotel rooms, food market blow outs, chase scenes and well placed environments makes this super enjoyable to watch. Paced with a perfect push and pull of suspense, Diao Yinan has followed Black Coal Thin Ice superbly and I can’t wait to see what he sinks his teeth into next
