Anora 2024
full thoughts on this one still marinating. mikey was incredible, but she brought more to her character than the script did. for anora being the titular character, i would’ve liked to know more about anora. it works better when it’s being a screwball comedy, but i would’ve appreciated a more emotional punch being packed. not bad, but definitely a man’s perspective all in all, and i think that shows.

a fresh take on religious horror, i was hooked initially and really enjoying the religious debates and banter, the pop culture references and creep by radiohead. but once they were in the basement it kinda lost me. the performances were great all around, but i think any actor other than hugh grant in the antagonist role and i would’ve lost interest a lot sooner. didn’t realize topher grace was topher grace until the credits
