  so ridiculously anachronistic and fanfiction-y but still a very fun and enjoyable watch for the most part. however, my biggest gripe with this is definitely what they did to emily's character in this movie, because i really cannot imagine her being anything like this - but the new emily-centric biopic wasn't really any better in that regard to be honest...

  also the title/intro sequence saying "there were four talented brontë siblings, two of them geniuses" is so insanely disrespectful

  The Picture of Dorian Gray 1945

  why does every adaptation need to add this weird romance between dorian and basil's (or henry's in the case of the 2009 version) much younger female relative (who dorian knew since since she was like 5 years old... & this relationship is usually framed as his 'redemption'). i'm assuming this film is responsible for originating this odious trope which means i have no choice but to hate it forever.
