Poor Things 2023
Bella felt like a shell of a woman- this is a man’s idea of a woman’s self-discovery and empowerment (she just has sex… that’s it). I felt detached from her, wanting to know more about her exploration of the world. The only thing she really explores is having sex, then having sex for money. How boring and how typically male to assume this is the core of womanhood.
If this wasn’t marketed to be a feminist movie I may have liked it more- I find it offensive in that regard. Not philosophically challenging or kooky enough for Yorgos to truly shine. Looked stellar though
