This is an extraordinary film which is unique in creating tension throughout often with minimal dialogue. Hackman is outstanding and Ford Coppola a genius filmmaker.

I thought I would not like this film but you will watch anything on a long flight! Actually it is very well crafted and uses what might be considered experimental shots to emphasise the transformation and confusion of the main character. Demi Moore is very good. Qualley retain some of her playfulness from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood but her performance is much deeper. So I would recommend seeing this if you can cope with the occasional gore and self injection scenes.

Ooppps sorry. I don’t like to slam a movie and my standards can sometimes be low.. but this might rank as one of the worst movies I have seen - well seen through to the end. I blame Letterboxd as if you are going to review you have to stick it out. Poor storyline; poor acting; confused and generally unconvincing. Everything else was fine 🤦‍♂️ what a waste of time and money and I am a bit shocked that they could have massacred the series of films so badly. Enjoy .. or rather don’t.

The approach was brilliant as the characterisation of the family and use of sound but I got a little lost as to whether this was a biopic (much of the action seems to follows Hoess’ career) or not. At times that narrative was a bit confusing and forced me to check the actual story which explained a few episodes I could not really understand in context, Nevertheless the use of the house and garden and the background sounds were brilliant as was acting of the main two protagonists.
