Having not heard the soundtrack and having no attachment to the musical, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this. What I got was a fully emotional ride I didn’t expect to take with powerful performances by everyone involved. I really loved the music and I completely stan Elphaba now. I mean the people of Oz are horrible people.
Many themes resonated with the current environment of the US so I found myself getting especially emotional about that but the quote that probably hit me hardest was this: “You'll find if you make it discouraging enough you can keep anyone silent” Such an amazing script.
