This is a movie about desire. No doubt about it. Desire expressed by long stares, coy smiles, and the sound of air passing through nostrils. Repeatedly. There are also a few primitive attempts at DIY abortions, and a final scene very reminiscent of the final scene of Call Me By Your Name.
There are so many seemingly nonsensical plot points, and so much time to ponder them during the many music-less, dialogue-free scenes of these two looking at each other…Translated from by -
The Killing of Two Lovers 2020
Tense throughout, a story set entirely in a few frozen square blocks of a remote town in Utah. Loved the cinematography: nearly square aspect ratio, muted colors reflective of the dessert landscape in winter, creative use of extreme closeups, combined with some long takes and very real dialog make for a gripping, concise 85 minute tale of a couple working on their relationship by taking a break.
